download XMLmind editor http://xmlmind.com/archive/xmleditor/7.6.0/xxe-perso-7_6_0.dmg (MacOS), http://xmlmind.com/archive/xmleditor/7.6.0/xxe-perso-7_6_0-setup.exe (Windows)

install the program, launch it and close it again. Important: if the program asks you to update to a new version, do not update and untick the box at the bottom of the dialogue window: “Automatically check for updates”.

connect to xserve01 and copy the folder called pdn_tools from OA Publications LD/Technical Stuff/Technical Data into $USERDIR/Library/Application\ Support/XMLmind/XMLEditor7/addon.

clone the repository https://github.molgen.mpg.de/EditionOpenAccess/eoa-xmlmind.git using Github Desktop

in a Terminal, navigate to $USERDIR/Library/Application\ Support/XMLmind/XMLEditor7/addon: cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/XMLmind/XMLEditor7/addon

create a symbolic link called metopes_tei from the cloned repository to this folder: ln -s $GITHUB_FOLDER/eoa-xmlmind metopes_tei. NB creating an Alias does not work, it does not have the same functionality as a symbolic link.

re-open XMLmind and open the XML file you want to work on. The middle pane should show you a formatted version of the book.

Now you can start using the program.
